Spring Term 1 - Fire! Fire!
This term our topic is Fire Fire!, and we are learning about the Great Fire of London in 1666. We will be finding out about the main events, writing a diary like Samuel Pepys and researching why the fire spread so quickly.
We have already made houses in the same style as part of our class display, and have a variety of activities such as ordering events in our topic area. We will be linking our topic into Literacy and writing a diary entry both of the week as a whole as well a detailed account of one particular.
In Science we are finding out about different materials. We will be learning the difference between an object and the material it is made from.
We are learning about landscape painting and will be looking at the work of John Constable. We will be drawing and painting our own landscape pictures, as well as trying out different paint techniques and strokes.
In PE we will continue to have lessons with Nick helping us to learn a variety of sports skills and team games, as well as also learning some gymnastic skills.
In literacy we will continue to write sentences with capital letters and full stops, and in Maths we are learning about 2D and 3D shapes as well as patterns and becoming confident with numbers to 100. We will also be measuring objects and people, measuring both height and length, using shortest, shorter, longest, longer, tallest and taller to compare the objects or people.
