Pupil Premium is money given to schools within its budget to be used to raise standards.

It is up to head teachers to target pupil premium funding on their own priorities.

The education secretary, explained ‘... Schools will have freedom to employ the strategies they know will support their pupils. This additional funding will be passed straight to schools and   because we have not ring-fenced it at school level, schools will have freedom to employ the strategies that they know will support their pupils to increase their attainment...’
